Human Rights Protection Program (HRPP) is a program that deals with Human Rights issues: ISRCD strives to work in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to protect and promote civil, political, and socioeconomic rights especially for poor people in our partner communities.
These rights are frequently excluded from vulnerable groups in rural areas based on, gender, religion, and—most commonly—the pursuit of economic gain. To ensure that the rights of such people are preserved, protected and promoted, ISRCD initiated this program and results are so far encouraging.
ISRCD established human rights clubs at the local level and works with grassroots organizations dedicated to preventing and ending human rights violations that drastically affect the youth, women, and children in their communities.
Together with the three umbrella organizations (YEN, APROFER, APRODEV), ISRCD serves as a platform for communities and individuals to understand their rights, voice their plights, and take effective actions. Interns, volunteers, and donors work together with ISRCD to address a wide spectrum of rights issues that cause and exacerbate poverty.
These include: direct legal counseling; intra-familial violence prevention; publications and advocacy campaigns; conflict resolution; rights education workshops; child labor prevention; and many more.
Rights-based approach has been integrated in poverty alleviation strategy operational since 2015.
Human rights issues most commonly addressed by ISRCD through HRPP vary from region to region but in partnership with other human rights organizations in rural areas, ISRCD strives to:
- Lobby for the protection of children’s rights and develop strategies with local institutions to implement and enforce laws and policies.
- Educate the public about current literature on child abuse, children’s rights, neglect, interventions, and support systems.
- Provide rights-related workshops to local communities and support the establishment of a collective voice to protect vulnerable groups from exploitation.
- Facilitate social welfare programs that include the rehabilitation and reunification of youth and their families.
- Mobilize grassroots communities to advocate for the protection of children from physical, sexual, and labor abuse.
